Transparent administration needed for development: Mahajan

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today said that parliamentarians have the crucial responsibility to ensure a transparent, responsible and participatory administration to spur development.

Mahajan was speaking at the concluding day of the 6th conference of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, India Region.

She said there must be a focus on knowledge building, institutionalisation of the best parliamentary rules, practices and procedures in a way that will facilitate the engagement of lawmakers with the development agenda.

Mahajan also appealed to all the states to devote some time for discussion of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and monitor their implementation.
