A 50-year-old transporter was shot dead by two motorcycle borne youths in Topra area of Khunti district, police said today.
The victim, Birendra Jaiswal was in front of his shop near his house when the assailants came on a two-wheeler and opened fire last night, police said.
Senior police officers including the Superintendent of Police, Anis Gupta rushed to the spot to investigate the incident. A massive manhunt has been launched to apprehend the culprits.
Asked whether the incident was a handiwork of the ultra outfit, Gupta told newsmen that the incident was being investigated.
