Treatments being shown on TV without approval from authorities

Expensive treatments shown on TV for various diseases were not all approved or licensed, the Information and Broadcasting ministry said today.

Replying to a query in Rajya Sabha, Minister for Information and Broadcasting minister Manish Tewari said, "Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has also informed that the drug controller has not approved or licensed treatments as referred."

He was responding to a question on whether expensive treatments being shown on TV for various chronic diseases are approved and licensed by the Drug Controller.
