Tribal teachers gherao DI office

Tribal teachers gheraoed the District Inspector Schools office in Midnapore town today to press for their charter of demands.

A senior police officer said the agitators squatted before the office this afternoon calling for immediate redressal of their economic demand.

The demand included regularisation of part time teachers and enhancement of salary.

The DI office was located in the heart of the West Midnapore district headquarters town in the College More.

The officer said a police picket was posted nearby but they didnot intervene.

The agitators threatened to continue the stir till the demand was met.
