Trichur V Ramachandran gets Swathi music award

Senior Carnatic music vocalist Trichur V Ramachandran has been selected for Kerala government's prestigious Swathi Music Award for the year 2013.
Minister for Culture K C Joseph said Ramachandran was selected for the award, which carries Rs one lakh and a citation in recognition of his contribution to Carnatic music.
Swathi Music Award was instituted in 1997 in memory of Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma Maharaja of erstwhile Travancore Royal family, who was a great patron of art and music.
Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer (1997), Ustad Bismilla Khan (1998) D K Pttambal (1999), K V Narayanaswamy (2000), T N Krishnan (2001) Pandit Bhimsen Joshi were some of the earlier recipient of the award.
