Describing Trinamool Congress as a party having many 'lumpen elements', WBPCC president Adhir Chowdhury today said there has been rise in their factional feuds all over the state causing serious law and order issue.
"The clashes between the party workers themselves have resulted in serious breach on the law and order front," the former Railway minister said at a meeting at Alampur in Howrah district.
"People are scared. They had removed Left for its terror tactics but this regime since the end of the coalition has all but eclipsed their predecessor," he said.
Chowdhury alleged the strife among TMC's trade union wing hampered production in profitable units and impeding industrial growth as a result.
"Since their regime 22 factories had to be closed and workers were suffering," the Baharampur MP said.
On state Congress, he said despite having a dedicated workforce there was a dearth of true leaders in the party.
"We must work from the grassroots now," he said at the meeting flanked by MLA Asit Mitra and Maya Ghosh.
