A truck allegedly carrying liquor worth Rs 20 lakh illegally from Madhya Pradesh to Gujarat was intercepted and impounded here today, officials said.
"Azadnagar police intercepted a truck with 1,215 crates of beers at Sejawada area, two kilometres before the Gujarat border, Jobat region Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Anand Singh Baskala told PTI.
According to the permit, the consignment was meant to be delivered at a place in Bori area of the district but the truck was heading the opposite way towards Gujarat when it was impounded, he said.

The SDOP said that three people have been booked under relevant sections of the Excise Act. Two of them, Nasruddin and Allarakha, hail from Chhota Udaipur in Gujarat while the third person called Dipak is a local.
He said that the accused made contradictory statements about the place in MP from where they had picked up the beer consignment.
