Truck carrying explosive chemical found abandoned

A container truck carrying sodium chlorate, a chemical used in the making of explosives, was found abandoned at Aur village, polcie said.

The truck was reported as stolen last night from a depot near Sherpur, police said.

But Ludhiana police Commisioner PS Gill said it was later found abandoned near village Aur on the Phillaur-Nawanshahr road, about 40km from here.

The consignment was imported from China and had been cleared by customs authorities. It belonged to Barnala firm, Trident Group of Industries.
