Truck driver arrested with contraband in JK

An alleged drug peddler has been arrested from Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said today, adding around 2 kg of contraband was seized from his possession.

Acting on a tip-off, a police party intercepted a truck at a checkpoint on Ramgarh road in Vijaypur area last evening, they said.

Upon searching the vehicle, 1 kg 500 grams of poppy was found hidden under the driver's seat, police said.

We arrested the driver identified as Rinku (40), they said.

A case has been registered at Vijaypur police station and investigation is going on, police added.
