Truck driver arrested with illegal liquor

A driver was arrested with a truck loaded with illegal consignment of foreign brand liquor on NH-8 near Kotputali here, the police said today.

The accused Dharmendra was arrested while his assistant Harish fled after the cops intercepted the vehicle at Buddi Hotel, on the way from Sonipath to Kota in Rajasthan, they said.

Some 423 cartons of various brands of English liquor packed in Punjab, Chandigarh and Haryana worth Rs 30 Lakh were seized, they said.

A case has been registered and police is looking for the second accused who is absconding, police said.
