Truck seized with smuggled liquor

A truck allegedly carrying smuggled liquor was today seized by excise officials and its driver arrested near Jait here.

"Twelve hundred (1,200) boxes of whisky were recovered from the truck whose driver, Kamlesh Yadav, has been arrested.

"However, the truck driver's associate, Bablu, managed to give the slip to the excise team and fled," said district excise officer Pavan Kumar.

The liquor, which was being brought from Faridabad side, was meant to be handed over to one Buntu of Etah, Kumar added.

According to Kumar, the driver has said that the mastermind behind the liquor smuggling racket was one Viresh Yadav of Agra.
