The Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy started functioning from its new premises, Tulu Bhavan, at Derebail near here from today.
The academy had been functioning in a rented premise in the Mangaluru City Corporation building at Lalbagh.
The new building was inaugurated by Dakshina Kannada district- in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai yesterday.

The bhavan, spread in an area of about 50,000 sq ft, has a cellar for parking vehicles. The building comprised an administrative office, library, workshop hall, guest rooms, interaction hall and a 200-seat-capacity auditorium, with green room and other facilities.
The government had sanctioned Rs 4.8 crore to the building of which Rs 4 crore had been released.
President of the academy M Janaki Brahmavar, Ivan D'Souza, MLC, former presidents of the academy were present at the inaugural function.
