TV channels asked not to carry 'misleading' ad

The Information and Broadcasting ministry has asked TV channels not to carry an advertisement which claims that a certain edible oil brand prevents diseases like cancer and diabetes and acidity problem.
In its letter to the channels, the ministry said that Consumer Complaints Council of Advertisement Standard Council of India had taken up the issue and concluded that the claim that edible oil prevents cancer, diabetics, acidity, cholesterol, etc was "not substantiated and was misleading".
The ministry advised the channels not to carry the particular advertisement.
