The Registrar of Kerala University of Health and Allied Sciences was today suspended after a sting operation by a Malayalam television channel showed him allegedly taking bribe from a contractor.
Within hours of the "Mathrubhumi News" telecast the story, Health Minister V S Sivakumar sought a report on the issue and Registrar Iype Verghese was suspended by Vice-Chancellor Dr M K C Nair, an official release said here.
The channel showed the official allegedly receiving cash from a person who approached him posing as a bidder interested in securing some printing contracts for the university.
An inquiry had been ordered into the allegations against the official and the Health Secretary asked to submit a detailed report.
