Two acquitted in 28-year-old robbery case

A local court here acquitted two persons accused of robbery 28 years ago due to lack of evidence.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Madhu Gupta yesterday absolved Akhtar and Khursheed of the charges of robbery in a case dated back to 1989 after the prosecution failed to establish a case against them.

Of the four people accused in the case, two died during the trial, a government lawyer said.
