Two arrested as bovine smuggling bid foiled in J and K

With the arrest of two persons today, police claimed to have foiled a bovine smuggling bid and recovered 8 cattle from their possession in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Acting on a specific information, police arrested the two smugglers in Goha Dhaar-Kahaljugasar area of Gandoh tehsil, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Gandoh Sunny Gupta said.

The animals were reportedly being brought from Chamba area of Himachal Pradesh and were supposed to be smuggled to Kashmir valley, he said.

The accused have been identified as Mohammad Yousuf and Abdul Hameed, residents of Thaloran in Gandoh, the officer said.

A case was registered at police station Gandoh, he said.
