Two men were arrested for allegedly robbing an Armyman of his wallet and mobile phone near the Okhla railway station in southeast Delhi, police said today.

With the arrests, police claimed to have solved eight cases of snatching.

The duo, Deepak (19) and Danish (22), used to target passengers in slow moving trains near the Okhla railway station, they said.

As soon as the train slowed down further, one of them would snatch articles from unsuspecting passengers and get down immediately while the other would physically block the victim, police added.

They also committed snatchings near the Okhla Mandi area, officials said.

On March 7, Danish snatched the mobile phone of the complainant seated near the train door, deboarded the train and tried to escape along with his associate while the victim gave them a chase, they added.

Soon the complainant caught up with the accused, police said, adding that the duo hit him in the head before running away with his wallet containing an Indian Army ID card, two Aadhaar cards and Rs 1,300 cash.

On March 20, Danish was nabbed near Okhla Mandi. He was carrying a loaded country-made pistol. An Indian Army ID card and an Aadhaar card were found on him, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said.

His associate, Deepak, was arrested later and six smartphones were recovered from him, he said.

Police are probing why the accused specifically snatched the ID card of an Armyman, the DCP added.
