Two persons allegedly involved in several cases of chain snatching in the city have been arrested, police said today.

According to the police, Vikram alias Vicky (28) and Santosh (26) were arrested from main Bawana Road by Crime Branch after they received a tip off about their movements. Two gold chains along with a black Pulsar motorcycle have been recovered from them.

"Vikram is a notorious snatcher. He was released from jail just three months ago. He has been involved in over 96 cases of snatching, burglary, drug peddling, illegal firearms and assault on police officers.

To evade arrest, the duo had shifted their base to Alwar, Rajasthan and Nangal, Punjab. They used to come to Delhi to commit snatchings and then return to their hideouts, said Additional Commissioner of police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav.

Further investigation is being conducted as to whether they were involved in similar crimes at inter-state level, police said.
