In an act of revenge, two persons were beheaded by supporters of a slain Dalit leader in a clash at nearby Pazhayakayal village today, police said.

The clash was a fallout of the murder of Pasupathipandian near Dindigul some years ago, they said

Two supporters of Subbash Pannayar, one of the accused in the leader's murder, were beheaded and several injured in the clash in which bombs and country-made weapons were used, they said.

The supporters of Pasupathipandian barged into Pannayar's garden hurling country bombs to disperse his supporters, police said.

As Pannayar's men retaliated with bombs, members of the other group retreated. While doing so, they severed the heads of two supporters and gave it as an 'offering' to a portrait of Pasupathipandian on the roadside.

Police have alerted all checkposts in the district to nab those involved.
