Two booked for offering bribe for votes: Police

Two persons, including an independent candidate, have been booked for alluring voters, promising them motorbikes for votes in the upcoming legislative council elections here, police said today.

A complaint was registered by a Kshetra Panchayat member, Anand Kumar Rai at Line Bazar police station yesterday against an independent candidate, Yogendra Prasad and another person for allegedly offering him a motorcycle for vote, they said.

The complainant has also shown police a motorcycle which, he claimed, had been given to him for voting in favour of Prasad, police said, adding that Rai is a panchayat member from Nishan area under Gaurabadshahpur police station area.
 

Police have registered an FIR against the two and investigations are on in the matter, they said.

Voting on 36 seats of the legislative council from local bodies constituency is scheduled to held on March 3 here.
