Two brothers have been sentenced for life by a local court for murdering their cousin in 2010.

Additional Sessions Judge S J Kale yesterday held Ramesh Palva (45) and Kashinath Palva (40) guilty under sections 302 (murder), 506 (criminal intimidation) read with 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC and pronounced the punishment.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on each of the convicts.

The two convicts had a long standing land dispute with their cousin Lahanu Palva (40).

On November 4, 2010, the two accused came to Lahanu's house at Palav Pada in the district's Vikramgadh taluka and called him out.

When Lahanu came out, the duo attacked him with a huge wooden block used to crush paddy, killing him on the spot.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

The accused had also threatened their cousin before the fatal attack, the prosecution told the court.
