Two children drowned in a pond near Panur in Kannur District today, police said.
Mohammed Akhil (5) and his cousin Mohammed Fazal (6) along with two other children were playing near a pond at Kariyad when Akhil slipped into the water.
On seeing this, the other three tried to rescue him and in the process Fazal lost his life.
The other children were rescued by locals who rushed to the spot on hearing their screams, they said.
