Two persons drowned and six others are missing in a water body in Bhagalpur district, police said today.
The mishap took place when eight persons were trying to wade through the water body last evening, Deputy Superintendent of Police Neeraj Kumar said.
Two bodies, identified as that of Shakuntala Devi (35) and her son Sumit Kumar (7), were recovered, he said, adding that divers had been pressed into service to locate others although chance of their survival was bleak.
Kumar said that the water level increased suddenly in the water body due to heavy rains causing the mishap.
