Two girls found dead in pond

Bodies of two teenage girls missing since yesterday were today found in a pond in Mahapar area, 4km away from Barmer city, police said today.

The deceased were identified as Sakku(16) and Kavita(14), Investigating Police Officer of Sadar police station Bhanwar Singh Rajpurohit told PTI on telephone.

The girls who were cousin sisters had gone missing from home yesterday, and their parents found their sleepers and belongings near the pond, Rajpurohit said.

Previously too there were a few suicide cases reported in the pond, he said.

Prima facie it appeared to be a suicide case, and the bodies were sent for post mortem, he said, adding the exact reason of their death was yet to be ascertained.
