Two girls killed, 12 others injured as jeep turns turtle

Two girls were killed and at least a dozen others injured today after a jeep carrying them overturned on Begusarai-Matihari road under Matihani police station area in Bihar's Begusarai district, a police officer said.

The incident took place after the driver lost control of the jeep, Matihani police station in-charge Sunil Kumar said adding, the two girls identified as Kranti Kumari and Yashoda Kumar, both aged about 18 years, died on the spot, while at least a dozen other occupants sustained injuries.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and the injured persons admitted to a government hospital for treatment, he said.
 

The ill-fated jeep was taking passengers from Begusarai to Matihani, Kumar said.
