Two GNLA militants killed in encounter

Two suspected Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants were today killed in an encounter with security forces in Goalpara district of Assam, police said.

Two motorcycle-borne youths fired at patrolling Army personnel after they were asked to stop by the security forces at Borjhora village, they said, adding in the ensuing encounter the militants were killed.

The security forces recovered three pistols, 12 rounds of live ammunition, a satellite phone, a motorcycle and some documents.

The bodies have been sent to Goalpara Civil Hospital for post mortem, police said.
