Two held for killing police informer

Police today arrested two persons from Dholka area here allegedly involved in killing of a police informer, who had earlier alerted them about an alleged flesh trade racket.

The incident took place on Tuesday night when a constable was on patrol on Ahmedabad-Rajkot highway and Baldev Lalji (25), informed him about the racket. Acting on the tip-off when constable reached there along with informer, the suspects attacked them with a knife and ran away, P P Vaghela, Sub Inspector, Koth Police told PTI.

Lalji succumbed to his injuries on the spot while the constable is recuperating following an operation on his hand in a hospital, Koth Police Station Officer (PSO) Kirti Patel said.
 

Pratipsinh alias Lalu Bahadursinh Gohil (21), Vinu alias Latif Makwana (31), both residents of Vataman village in Dholka taluka, were arrested late last night, Patel said.

They will be produced in court later in the evening.

Searches are on for one Jashu Makwana and a woman who were allegedly involved in the incident, Vaghela said.
