Two persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of Mangalore Electricity Supply Company (MESCOM) engineer Jagadish Rao (55) at his residence here on September 21, police said.
Siddappa (22) of Shirasangi in Belgaum district and Murtuza Khadri (27) of Nittoli in Davangere were held by the Urva police, City Police Commissioner R Hithendra told reporters here today.
They had admitted, he said, that they had murdered Jagdish Rao by slitting his throat when he resisted their attempt to burgle the house.

The two also admitted that they were also responsible for the murder of one Susheela (75) belonging to Alake in Urva police station limits on August 1 in a similar manner, Hithendra said.
Jagadish was murdered in the wee hours of September 21 at his residence at Bejai. The assailants had allegedly entered the house through the terrace. It was a practice of the assailants to kill anyone who resisted their burglary attempts, he said.
A gold chain, revolver, 16 rounds of bullets and Rs 5,000 had been seized from them. More stolen gold which had been pledged by the duo in various firms were yet to be recovered, the commisioner said.
