Two highway robbers arrested

Two highway robbers were arrested from the Begampur-Barwala Chowk on Rithala Road here when they had assembled to plan a loot, police said today.

Sultan Ali Ahmed (29) and his younger brother Irfan Ali Ahmed (22) were arrested by the special cell of Delhi Police this Monday following a tip-off, they said, adding that the two used to rob trucks on highways.

Police also recovered two pistols and as many live cartridges from them, DCP (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said.

"A tip off was received that some members of a gang, involved in several sensational highway dacoities would assemble at Begampur-Barwala Chowk, Rithala Road in order to plan dacoity of loaded trucks," he said.
 

The duo is allegedly involved in a number of robbery cases and efforts are on to nab their associates, police said.
