Three persons, including two children, today drowned in Godavari river in Andhra Pradesh's West Godavari district, while another woman was feared dead, police said.
22 persons from Aswaraopet in neighbouring Telangana came for a picnic to Koyida, a scenic tourist spot on the banks of Godavari in Velerupadu mandal, police sources in Eluru said.
Some of them got into the river for swimming, but three of them, including two kids, met with a watery grave as they could not swim.
The deceased have been identified as Arifa (45), Mahbub Bi (12) and Hasima (11).
M Kondamma (36) was washed away and a hunt has been launched to trace her, the police sources said.
Bodies of the victims were fished out of Godavari.
