Two labourers drown in river Jhelum

Two labourers today drowned in river Jhelum in Anantnag district of south Kashmir when they had gone to take bath in the river, police said.

Shrivind Kumar (21) of Kishtwar and Bittu Singh (25) of Ramban were taking bath in the river near the work site at Sangam when they lost balance and drowned, a police spokesman said.

He said efforts are on to recover the bodies.

The duo were working as labourers with a private construction company engaged in the expansion of the Srinagar-Banihal Highway project, he added.
