Two labourers were killed and at least ten others were injured when the slab of an under-construction two-storied building collapsed in Film Nagar area here, police said.
"Today at around 11 AM, when work was on to lay slab, it suddenly broke down and fell on the workers. At least 12 labourers were working when the slab collapsed and two of them were buried alive," Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) Venkateswara Rao said.
NDRF and police personnel were engaged in rescue and relief works and removing debris from the spot and trying to find out if anyone is still trapped underneath the collapsed slab, the DCP said, adding the injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital.

The deceased were identified as Anand and A Shaikh (both aged between 28 to 36), Assistant Commissioner of Police Uday Kumar said.
Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao expressed his shock over the incident and offered condolences to the family members of the deceased.
Rao directed the authorities to provide better treatment to the injured, a release from Chief Minister's office said.

Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan has announced Rs 2 lakh ex gratia to the families of the deceased after visiting the spot.
Meanwhile, GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy has ordered a detailed enquiry to ascertain the cause behind the mishap.
He has directed the civic officials to deploy cranes and heavy equipment to take up relief work on war-footing at the site.
"The teams from GHMC, Fire department, police and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are in action to save who are stuck under debris, if any," a release from GHMC stated.
Hyderabad police have registered a case on charge of causing death by negligence and other relevant sections of IPC in connection with the incident and are carrying out further investigation.
