Two newborn leopard cubs died today at the Siddharth Zoo here in central Maharashtra, an official said.
The cubs were born to leopardess 'Renu' just two days ago and appeared healthy, Zoo Director Vijay Patil said.
Except scavengers and the flesh supplier, no one else was allowed to go near the cage housing Renu and her two little ones, he said.

The newborns were observed after every two hours, but they could not survive, he said.
Assistant Commissioner of Animal Husbandry Department G M Pande and Khwaja Inamdar, a veterinary doctor at the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation, performed the autopsy, but its details were not known.
