Two minor sisters drown in lake

Two minor sisters today drowned in a lake at Panvadi village in Shajapur district, police said.

"Suhani (5), her elder sister Nanika (6) and their friends had gone to the lake this afternoon for bathing," said Sunara police station inspector SPS Sengar.

He said the girls drowned, as they failed to gauge the depth of the water.

The deceased are daughters of Banglesh Pardhi, a member of a nomadic tribe, the inspector said.

He said the bodies were fished out by the police.

The family of the deceased has been camping in the village, located 15 kms away from the district headquarters, since the last two months, the inspector said.
