Two Pakistani smugglers were shot dead today at the Indo-Pak border in Amritsar Sector and an AK-47 rifle, and heroin worth Rs 60 crore in the international market was also seized from them, the BSF said.
Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on duty at Khurd Border Post noticed some suspicious activities in the wee hours. The suspected intruders then opened fire following which the BSF jawans retaliated, Inspector General, BSF's Punjab Frontier, Anil Paliwal said.
The two suspected smugglers were killed in the exchange of fire, he said.

In search operations afterwards 12 kgs of heroin, worth Rs 60 cr, one AK-47 rifle, a mobile phone, one Pakistani SIM card and three batteries were seized from them, Paliwal said.
The incident happened a day after a suspected Pakistani smuggler was killed at the Indo-Pak border in Amritsar and 24 kgs of heroin was also seized from him.
According to the IG, 123 kgs of heroin has been seized till this year and three smugglers have been killed.
