Two poachers were today killed by patrolling forest guards in Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary which has the highest concentration of rhinos per sq km in Morigaon district of Assam.
The forest guards spotted the duo moving about in a suspicious manner in Tuupling area of the sanctuary and a shoot-out followed in which they were killed, a forest department spokesman said.
A .303 rifle and some rounds of ammunition were seized from the encounter site.

Kaziranga had witnessed the killing of three rhinos in the first week of the year following which patrolling was intensified in all the parks and sanctuaries with rhino population.
