Two police constables were injured when they opened fire after an altercation between them over a petty issue in Siliguri town tonight, police said.
A police patrolling party comprising an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and four constables were getting ready to board a vehicle at Teen Batti more when two police constables Tashi Sherpa and Carlos Oraon had an altercation over who would occupy which seat in the vehicle at around 10 pm, they said.
Sherpa then opened fire from his service rifle and two bullets hit Oraon, another constable in the patrol party Manash Chandra counter fired which hit Sherpa in his leg, the police said.

Both Sherpa and Oraon have been rushed to North Bengal Medical College Hospital.
Senior police officers have rushed to the spot.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) of Siliguri Police Commissionerate Bholanath Pandey said the matter is being probed.
