A local court today sentenced two persons to 20 years in jail for gangraping a Dalit woman five years ago.

Additional sessions judge B P Pujara sentenced Sultan Mekwa and Imtiaz Sheikh to 20 years in jail, while acquitted two others for lack of evidence.

"The two were convicted under IPC section 376 (2). The court also fined them Rs 10,000 each. This amount will be given to the victim," public prosecutor Sameer Khira said.

The crime took place on November 19, 2013, when the victim and her relative were abducted by Mekwa, Sheikh and two others, who took them to an isolated place near IP Mission School. Mekwa and Sheikh then gangraped the woman.
