Thieves broke open the locks of two shops in Vijay Nagar area here and escaped with cloths and other items worth Rs 5 lakh, police said today.
The theft took place on Friday night but the shop owner reported this to police today, they said.
The owner Mukesh told police that cloths worth Rs 3.5 lakh and grocery items worth Rs 1.5 lakh, were missing when he opened the shop next morning.
On Mukesh's complaint, a case against unknown persons has been registered in Vijay Nagar Police station, they said.
