Two teenaged boys drown in pond

Two teenagers today drowned in a pond attached to a quarry in Mettupalayam, about 40 Kms from here, police said.

The boys, Arvind and Vijay of identical age of 16 years, along with their friend, Nithya, have climbed down to the pond to take bath, they said.

As they did not know swimming, both drowned in water.

Based on information given by Nithya, Fire and Rescue department personnel retrieved the bodies.

Both have appeared for the just concluded Xth examination and awaiting results, police said.
