Two youths charred to death in poutry van-bus collision

Two youths were charred to deathwhen the poultry van in which they were travelling caught fire after a collision with a bus in the district today, police said.

19-year old driver of the van, coming from Karnataka to Kasargod, and its 20-year old cleaner died of burns were charred to death as fire engulfed the van after the accident that occurred on a national highway nearKumbala, they said. Under the impact, the bus which was on its way to Manipal in Karnataka from Thiruvananthapuram, rammed into the verandah of a nearby house,partially damaging it.

The bus driver was injured in the accident and had been hospitalised while 30 passengers were treated as outpatients for minor injuries, police said.
 

Fire and Rescue Service personnel recovered the bodies after dousing the flames.
