Making the announcement here today after inaugurating one such centre in the city, Radha Raturi, Principal Secretary Women's Empowerment and Child Development said that the centres will be opened in collaboration with NGOs on PPP mode.

Initially five day-care centres will be set up at Anganbari Kendras in Dehradun district including Rispana, Bindal, Saung Nadi, Doiwala and Rishikesh areas as a pilot project which will finally be extended to other parts of the state depending on their success rate, she said.

Children up to 3 years of age suffering from malnutrition will be given healthy and nutritious food at these centres including fruits, vegetables, pulses, eggs and milk, the official said.

She also asked officials of the department of child development to inspect the inaugurated centre to ensure that children get nutritious food, clean water and regular monthly medical check-ups.
