UK High Commissioner meets Food Processing Minister

Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal has met UK High Commissioner James Bevan and discussed about the measures need to be taken for growth of the food processing sector in the India.

In the meeting held yesterday, UK High Commissioner said his country could help India in arresting food wastage and skill development.

Bevan also informed the Minister that soon a business delegation will visit India, an official statement said.

Sharing her goals for the next few months Badal said, "...Goal for next few months would be to create a food map of India, so that both the government and the industries understand what is target area and what need to do."
 

Badal welcomed the cooperation by the British and stated that she would look forward to more stronger cooperation between the two countries.

The Minister emphasised that to revolutionise food processing in the country at farm level, India has to take a quantum leap and adopt most practical model at policy level where husband works in the farm, woman works at the processing unit and together the family markets the processed food.

In a different meeting Badal also met representatives of the Indian Rice Millers Associations and listened to the concerns of the rice millers.
