An ULFA militant was killed in an encounter with police and several arms and explosives, including TNT, were recovered from him at Melanjatiapa- Jakuriapara in Kamrup district, police said today.
Acting on a tip off about ULFA camps in the village, police cordoned off the area following which a group of militants opened fire on them and in the retaliatory gunshots the ultra was killed on the spot and the rest fled last night.
The underground was identified as Munin Hazarika and a 9-mm pistol with four live cartridges, a huge quantity of explosives, including TNT, and some documents were recovered from him.
