Unaccounted cash seized from vehicle by election squad

Cash worth Rs 2.5 crore was seized at Loni Kalbhor from an intercepted vehicle, which is probably the largest amount of unaccounted seized during this election, the police said here today.

Giving details about the incident, the Loni Kalbhor police said here today that the election squad was on duty at Kawadipat toll plaza, when they intercepted the cash being carried in a vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle Ramdas Kaluram Bahirat told the officers that the money belonged to the Pune District Central Co-operative Bank and that he was carrying the money to the Bhavaninagar branch in Indapur taluka.
 

The Loni kalbhor police said that Income Tax officials are investigating the source of the unaccounted cash.

The driver of the jeep was accompanied by three others.
