A man and his nephew were today arrested allegedly for demanding extortion money of Rs 20 lakh from a trader, while another man was held for providing SIM cards, used to place the extortion calls, on fake documents.
According to DSP Nishant Sharma, the trader, Sushil, had lodged an FIR against some unidentified persons who had called him and demanded the extortion money. The number used for calling Sushil was registered in the name of a Chitehra resident Mukesh Bhati.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sirajuddin and Javed.

During the course of investigation, it was found that the phone call was made from Jewar area.
On interrogation, the two accused revealed before the police about their relationship.
Javed was unemployed and had asked his uncle to arrange a job for him. Sirajuddin, instead, planned the extortion from the trader.
They bought several SIM cards using which they called the trader and demanded extortion from him. The mobile phone shop owner Kushalpal was also arrested for providing SIM cards on fake documents.
The mobile phone and SIM cards used in extortion calls have been recovered from them, police said.
