An undertrial sitting in a police van was shot at by a bike-borne assailant outside a court in Chhata town today, a police official said.
Karmveer was rushed to a private hospital, where his condition is stated to be critical, SP (rural) Aditya Kumar Shukla said.
He was brought to the court from jail by police for appearance during the hearing of a case.
A probe into the matter is underway, Shukla said.
