In a statement here, he asked party activists to iron out their differences and come together to participate in anti-government protests to be staged by the Congress across the state on September seven.

Amarinder said there was an urge among party workers to take on the Akali-BJP government for its "anti-people" policies.

The "back-breaking taxes" imposed by the coalition government had shaken the common man, he said.

Amarinder said everyone needed to be a part of the protest to convey a strong message to the government as well as to party cadres that the party leadership was united.

He said there was nothing wrong in having an opinion about various issues including the leadership, and the party leaders can and should raise it at an appropriate forum like the high command.

Amarinder, however, said it is the prerogative of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to take a decision on the issue and everybody should respect her decision.
