United Spirits veteran Paramjit Singh Gill today joined Allied Blenders & Distillers, which sells the world's top-selling whisky by volumes Officer's Choice, as president and chief executive.
Gill replaces Anupam Dutta, who left the third largest domestic spirits company last November after putting in about two years.
Gill will play a pivotal role in leading ABD's next phase of growth and premiumisation of its portfolio as well as its much-delayed initial public offering.

Prior to joining ABD, Gill was the all-India operations president at United Spirits (USL).
Gill will be responsible for delivering profitable growth and strategic agenda with the senior leadership team directly reporting into him, Deepak Roy, executive vice- chairman, said. Gill will directly report to Roy.
Having spent 25 years at USL, Gill brings in a vast experience in leading strategy and execution for global businesses.
Gill started off his career in 1992 with Glaxo's food division where he put in nine years.
Commenting on the appointment, Roy said, "I am confident that his rich experience, knowledge and proficiency will prove to be an invaluable asset to ABD, which is poised for exciting times ahead with its proposed entry into premium segments."
The Kishore Chhabria-promoted ABD's portfolio includes Officer's Choice Blue Whisky, Officer's Choice Black Whisky, Class 21 Grain Vodka, Jolly Roger Premium Rum, Lord & Master Brandy and Kyron brandy.
ABD is the third largest spirits company in the country with volumes of 33.2 million cases in FY17 and growing at a CAGR of 15 per cent over the last seven years. ABD has 54 manufacturing/bottling units across 22 states.
