The Burdwan University Employees today locked the varsity vice chancellor in his room for refusing to accept a memorandum from them, university sources said.
The university employees union wanted to submit a memorandum to the vice-chancellor regarding providing jobs on compassionate ground to the family members of the employees who died while in service.
Employees union general secretary Shayam Prasad alleged that the vc refused to meet them.
Angry with the vc's refusal to meet them the employees union locked the door the vice-chancellor and started a demonstration.
Vice-Chancellor S K Sarkar said as he was busy with a meeting so he told the employees union to submit the memorandum to the registrar but they locked my room from outside.
